In the US, there has been a surprising level of shopping and switching health care insurance plans during this second season of renewals under Obamacare. Almost 1 in 3 changed plans on the public website for health care insurance (HealthCare.gov). And for those who switched, most saved money.
Our research shows that 1 in 5 Canadians will change dentists for a “better deal”. A better deal means more than price. It also means quality of care and convenience.
And similarly, in the land where there are relatively few healthcare shoppers, namely the U.K., a major survey found that 4 in 10 adults would switch dentists to get more affordable and better care.
So what’s behind this phenomenon of lack of loyalty? Affordability is a big factor for sure, but dental shoppers are influenced by other factors too. The biggest factor of all, we have found, is better outcomes. And by that the consumer means, avoiding the crowns, the implants and the drilling and filling.
